Unexpected Rings

Due to a harsh and unexpected freeze in the spring, one of our beautiful old dogwoods died and had to be removed from the Garden this summer. This tree was here long before the gate and locks existed and had been intentionally worked into the layout from the beginning stages.
In the sadness of cutting this old tree down, to our surprise, these unexpected trio of inner tree rings were revealed.
Infertility, miscarriage grief and loss never goes away. But, the process can reveal something unexpected… like today in the Garden.

Some people on our Instagram said they saw symbology in the rings, and some said they saw an image on a human heart or a parent holing a child.
